President:

Denny Rogers (dennysfishroom) has been keeping fish since 1954. He has kept many different varieties, but always seems to come back to East and West African cichlids. His main interest is in breeding fish. No newcomer to aquarium clubs, Denny was a member of the Madison, Wisconsin, aquarium club in the late 1960s, and was a founding member of the Great Plains Aquarium Society in the early 1970s—where he served as its first president.

Michael Gaines Photo

Vice President:

Michael Gaines (sumpnfishy) is a former president of the Heart of America Aquarium Society in Kansas City. He relocated to northwest Arkansas in June of 2007, and couldn’t stand the thought of being without an aquarium club, so he found some like-minded people to help start one here in Northwest Arkansas. He served as our club's first president. Michael mostly keeps oddball cichlids, wild-type livebearers, and killifish. He also serves on the board of directors of the American Livebearer Association.

Kenna Peters Photo

Recording Secretary:

Kenna Peters (pinkrblu) is a lifelong resident of southwest Missouri. Her first aquarium was a Metaframe that served as a night-light in her bedroom in the early 1970s. She keeps a variety of aquariums, including planted community tanks, and a tank of shell-dwelling Neolamprologus multifasciatus.

Gail Rogers Photo

Treasurer:

Gail Rogers (fishgroupie) has been around tropical fish since college, when she married our current president. While she’s never actually kept fish herself, she has been the member of several clubs and considers herself a “fish-groupie” as she has followed Denny throughout her life adventure. Gail worked in education throughout her professional career, and even now teaches Developmental Math part time at NWACC. This gives her a very good background for her work as treasurer for NWAAS.

Auctions:

Corey Mohrhauser (sskruzr) has been a hobbyist for over 40 years, and managed the Pet Corner pet shop in Sioux City, Iowa, from 1982 to 1994. He has been an angelfish breeder off and on since 1985, even supplying clean angels to a local wholesaler back during the "angelfish AIDS" epidemic of the 1980s. Currently, Corey maintains about 800 gallons of aquariums and breeds angelfish and rams. He has repaired, or built from scratch, over 1000 aquariums.

Chat Hosts:

Denny Rogers (dennysfishroom) and Kenna Peters (pinkrblu) are our unofficial dynamic duo for Monday night chats. Stop by every Monday at 8:00 PM central time, and bring your fish questions, LOLs, and ROFLS. Or just stop by to chat about whatever is on your mind. We are a friendly bunch!

Sundance Trosper Photo

Species Maintenance Program (SMP):

Sundance Trosper (Sundance) contracted MTS (multiple tank syndrome) in 2006. He maintains over a dozen tanks in his all-freshwater fish room and blogs about it on Wet Socks, an online journal. Though he has bagged many tropical fish as a clerk in one of our local fish shops, Sundance also enjoys native fish collecting and observation—including snorkeling and freshwater SCUBA.

Mike Wickham Photo

Webmaster:

Mike Wickham (mewickham), a self-confessed professional fish geek and amateur computer nerd, has been an aquarium hobbyist since 1964, and was an aquarium retailer for 25 years. Mike was also a sysop on CompuServe’s former Fishnet Forum for 10 years. He now writes a column for Aquarium Fish International magazine, and is the author of several aquarium books—including a couple of Complete Idiot’s Guides.

Clown Loach Mascot Photo

Mascot:

Clown Loach (Chromobotia macracanthus) is a workaholic, who leads up all our advertising. When not busy making public appearances on flyers, posters, and letterhead, he spends his free time posing as our forum logo.
