What are fish like when they die of old age?

Postby kribkid17 » Tue May 04, 2010 9:54 pm

I have never had a fish die of old age before and now my male krib is down at the bottom sort of hiding. He is pale and lazy, and he won't get up for food. He is one of my older fish so it might be his time or is he just sleeping, because when I checked he was in a dark spot and it was more in the evening. But I got worried when I shined the light on him because ussally he will dart away from the light. I am really worried because he is one of my fav fish. What have you guys noticed about your fish when they die of old age?

You can tell how old he is by the wrinkles around his gill !
 No he might have just been asleep or going through something.
I had a 4 spot damsel which is real black with 4 white spots one time that turned as white as he could, he hid and would not come out. I knew for sure he would die but this went on for 2 weeks then one day he came out of hiding and looked as good as new and never had anything like that again for along time.

Wheeeh! I can take a sigh of relief! When I turned on the lights, he woke up and started following his girlfriend around, like he always does. I guess he just went to be early.

The first sign of old age is when they start forgetting the names of their fish-friends. Then the get lost on the way to their cave. I had a fish once with Alzfisher's. It was so sad to watch but he lived a long time.

One good thing about Alzfishers though, is that they get to meet new friends every day. Denny

 thats good denny but my question is... would that be like getting so drunk that the next morning you wondered what you did the night before?
Or is it that you dont remember the fact that you dont remember the night before?

Are you implying that at my age I should have some expertise or first-hand knowledge of this? Denny
