Club Picnic Planning

Postby mewickham » Tue Jul 27, 2010 4:06 pm

We had decided at the last meeting that it was too hot for collecting, but a good time for a club picnic. So we need to decide on a date and time.

Location:
I offered up our house here in Rogers as the site for this one. We have a huge screened porch. So we can be protected from bugs and unexpected rain. There's a good chance of seeing deer or raccoons, which come into the backyard every day. The front yard is flat, so there could be lawn games for the young ones. We could come inside if it's too hot. Our house is within 10 minutes of the Rogers Police Station, if you'd like to have the picnic on a meeting day to save the Missourians an extra trip.

Date
So let's start talking about a date and time. Once we get that settled, I'll post notice in the Events section and we'll discuss food items to bring.

I suggest we combine it with the August 14th meeting to save Kenna a trip. Maybe start at 3:00 PM to give time for socializing, and eat at 5:00 or so to be done in time for the meeting.

What do y'all think about the date and time? And if you'd prefer a different location, pipe up, too. It seemed agreeable to those at the last meeting, but there weren't very many of us!

We just found out yesterday that my son is going to have surgery on August 13th (nothing terribly serious, but we have to be there). That means we're going to have to miss the August meeting. I don't like doing that, but we don't really have a choice in this matter. A picnic before we go or after we get back would work, but you all should decide as to what works. If we're in town, we're usually pretty flexible. Denny

Okay, it turns out that I forgot that Sharon had scheduled a week of vacation for the week of our meeting. So though I will be around for the meeting, we might be spending the day getting ready to leave on a trip. So the day of the meeting is a bad choice for me, too. Perhaps we should bring it up for discussion at the next meeting? Denny, since you won't be here, you may want to post any dates that would be bad for you so that we can coordinate something.
