What type of plant is this?

When I bought my tank it came with a couple of plants and one of them was attched to some wood but it didn't look so healthy. It started growing better in my tank and it had really gotten better but my rainbow cichlids ate the leaves. Well it finally got better and I noticed it seems to be growing plants off the edges of the leaves. Can anyone name this plant by the discription? And what should I do about the little plants growing on the leaves?

Look up Java fern. That's probably what you have. It's often sold attached to wood or rock.

Java fern is the thing that came to my mind, too. It can be very slow to grow and can look really dead at times.

It's probably a java fern but it could be an anubia too. Does it have black roots?

No, it's a type of java fern. I have some anubius and it looks alot different.
