Keeping Natives

Post by roblockesince1980 »

I've decided to have an all native tank and i'm concerned my newest addition a 4 inch Bluegill will eat my Khuli Loaches before I remove them. Has anyone kept these two together?

You are right to be concerned. I would not mix those two species. The bluegill will surely eat the loaches and I doubt the small protective spines beneath their eyes are enough to protect them.

Natives are fun but I would recommend some of the smaller species unless you have a large tank. Bluegill get pretty big by aquarium standards.

I removed the Loaches yesterday so that's good. Thanks. I have a 45 gallon that currently houses a small Blugill, a 3 inch madtom and a Crayfish.
