Bullies may have gotten it started with bites, but it is definitely disease now. Unfortunately, those symptoms could be protozoan, bacterial, or even flukes. There's no way to be sure which without looking at a scraping under the microscope. If you want to try medicating, I'd try a formalin/malachite green combo (such as Rid-Ich+ or QuickCure) and a good gram-negative antibiotic. For the antibiotic, ignore brand names and look for ones that contain these active ingredients for best results: kanamycin, triple-sulfa, furanoids (anything with "fur" in the active ingredient name, such as nitrofurazone, nifurpurinol, furazolidone, etc.), neomycin, or minocycline). Tetracycline, terramycin, erythromycin, penicillin, and ampicillin are gram-positive and should be last choices, but good luck-- that's mostly what the local shops carry!

The formalin/malachite green will treat protozoans and some flukes. The antibiotic treats bacterial infections.
