A little about myself.
My name is Travis, my son Trenton and I joined NWAAS last weekend and were thoroughly impressed with the club so far. I have kept fish in some shape or form since I was 12 years old (now 36). I was born and raised in the Green Forest/Berryville area. I met my wife while working in Syracuse NY and lived there for about 4 years. While there I was a member of CNYAS and kept a small fishroom in the basement of our townhouse. Besides aquaria I am big into NASCAR and fishing. I work for Windstream Communications in Harrison, AR.
We now reside in Berryville and I currently keep Malawi mbuna and a trio of Aulonacara stuartgranti ngara along with 3-4 Synodontis cats in a 135 gallon tank that has been running for 7-8 years, a 55 that has been up for 2-3 years and houses everything that Trent collects at the river while I am fishing. We also set up a 29 gallon last week that is cycling and plan on buying a 40 gallon tomorrow before petco's sale is over. I plan on building a wooden stand for it similar to the one I built for the 135.
I initially found the NWAAS website while looking to restock my 135 since I had not added anything for the last 4-5 years. We found it at the perfect time to tag along for the trip to Ozark Angels. I had no idea a place so large existed in this area let alone the state of Arkansas. Gary and Jan were very gracious hosts and answered any questions anyone had throughout the tour.
I would like to thank Denny for initially inviting us to join the tour and for the demo on making fish food, my fish are loving it.
Mike W was a great help in getting us signed up for our family membership.
I would also like to thank Michael G for the presentation on fish anatomy and for the huge welcoming gift of the 5 fish. He had no clue who I was before the meeting but saw my post earlier in the week and brought 5 mbuna to compliment my tank.
The meeting showed that this club is full of knowledgeable people that are looking to help expand the hobby in the area.
