NWAAS has got another great program lined up for our February meeting!
Plecos and Their Natural Environments
Speaker: Dave Whitcraft
Saturday, February 12, 2011, 7:00 PM
Come at 6:30 PM to meet with other hobbyists!
A plecostomus has a face only an aquarist can love, but the many species of these unusual, suckermouth catfishes are highly desired—both for their odd looks and for their algae-eating capacity. Come learn about these fascinating fish! There will be good information and lots of photos.
Free admission • Refreshments • Door prizes • Mini auction
Dave Whitcraft is vice president of the Heart of America Aquarium Society in Kansas City. He started off with a 29-gallon tank four years ago, where he saw a post about a HAAS fish auction in Kansas City. He checked it out, and now he won't leave! Dave now has 25 tanks and his focus is on plecostomus and other species that he breeds for Breeder Award Points.

But, Wait! There's More!
We've got a couple of extra things planned before the meeting, for those who are interested:
Visit to Exotic Tropicals: We are going to take our speaker to Exotic Tropicals aquarium store for a short visit. Everyone is welcome to join us there. We will arrive at the store at around
4:45 PM.
Store location:
Exotic Tropicals
115 N. Dixieland Rd. #28
Rogers, AR 72756
(479) 636-8265
Speaker Dinner: What kind of hosts would we be if we didn't feed our guest speaker? We will be heading to the usual spot, the Hibachi Grill Supreme Buffet, to grab a bite. Everyone is welcome to join us and we hope that you will! (You will be responsible for your own meal check, which is around $10 for buffet plus drink.) The restaurant is a new and very large Chinese/American buffet (largest in the area). They also have a Mongolian-style grill where you can pick your raw ingredients for cooking. There is also some good sushi!
The restaurant address is listed below, but for those familiar with the area, the restaurant is located right in front of Walmart #1 on Walnut St. (Rt. 12) in Rogers-- in the former Ryan's Steakhouse building. Meet at the restaurant at
5:15 PM
Restaurant location:
Hibachi Grill Supreme Buffet
102 South 21st Street
Rogers, AR 72758-1120
(479) 636-8888
We hope to see you there!

I forgot to mention, if anyone is planning to attend the dinner, please drop a note here so that we can get a rough head count and make reservations, if necessary. If you notice this message too late, feel free to show up at the dinner anyway. We'll find room.

Thanks for the invite guys, I had a great time coming and visiting with you all. Hope I was entertaining enough for that hour! Thanks again to Cory for letting me visit and see your fish room and of course to Denny and Gail for very nice visit after the meeting. Much better than a hotel room!
As I told Denny, I'd been to Beaver lake 2x, once for camping... We stayed at Lost North, which is just past Denny's house! Quite funny =)
