Lost my pleco. :(

Post by pinkrblu »

My plecos had spawned a couple times, but the community was not very friendly to the babies, so I finally moved the pair to their own tank a week ago. Wednesday, one of the fish was stuck between two rocks. I moved the rock that was pinning it, and it swam off. By Thursday evening, it was really not doing well and was dead yesterday morning. Since I never could tell male from female in plecos, I guess I will give up. lol

So sorry to hear that. Similar to what happened to my pair of plecos I had a couple years ago. Always a bit depressing.

I don't know if it works with all species of bushynose, but from my experience the males have a red "hour glass" on their forehead. It's very noticeable on albinos, but not so noticeable on regular colored ones. That's in addition to the bush thing on the face. Denny
If it was easy, anyone could do it!
