Daphnia

I just received a shipment of Daphnia magna today. I put them into a wading pool I've got on my deck. Now I have to wait and see if they survive the transplant. The guy sent me a huge amount, so hopefully the water is okay for them, and they start reproducing. Then I'll also have to see if I can keep them going with the food I've got. This may jump-start some breeding activity from some of my newer fish. Denny

Good luck mine have died and come back once already this year. Heat does mine in it is a fun but challenging project.

Which species do you have. The magna aren't supposed to be as cyclical as other species. We'll see (I hope). Denny

I went out to gather up some daphnia for feeding today. As I got a big scoop I noticed I had also gotten a large quantity of tadpoles. Being lazy, I fed both to the fish. I suspect the tadpoles are from frogs, however, because the Betta pugnacious (?) were scarfing them down. I don't think they'd bother if they were from toads. Denny
