I was just given a reminder about servicing your sponge filters today. Without going into the gory details, I was reminded of a few basic truths about sponge filters. First, you should really clean them o0ut on some sort of regular schedule. Second, boy do they hold a lot of crap. Third, it's no fun standing over a sink squeezing out the sponges for any length of time. Denny

You can always ring sponge filters into a small bucket and water your houseplants. They will make great use of that stuff.
