So while attending the HAAS aucton a couple weeks ago and had a nice conversation with Walter G. He mentioned that gave the HAAS club a work shop on replacing a fluorescent bulb with a LED tube. So I jumped on Ebay and found 18" LED tubes for like $8 a tube and they have clear lens and a rating at 6500k. With a little m8dification, I got it installed rather easily. You bypass the ballast all together and just attach one wire to a side of one lamp holder and the other to the same side on the opposite lamp holder. If someone wants to see the set up I can bring one to the next meeting.

How are these working for you? I looked at some at Home Deposit the other day and they have some 48" for $7 but they are only 3500K. Work okay for basic lighting though.

Cory, can you bring the fish light you modified for LED? I've been out of the hobby for 7 years. All my lights are compact fluorescent, and one T5.
