				It's election time!
Northwest Arkansas Aquarium Society is a REAL aquarium club that meets in person, every single month.
Elections for 2025 will be held at our November meeting (Saturday, 11/09/2024, 4:00 PM). We will be taking nominations/volunteers right up until the actual election. It is not too late to put your name in the arena! The club needs YOUR help! We're looking for people to help us promote the aquarium hobby, by helping to manage our club.
These positions are up for nomination. Anyone who is willing to participate can run. We hope to get multiple nominees for each position. All successful candidates will become members of the NWAAS Board of Directors and control the future of the club:
OFFICERS
President
• Preside over meetings
• Follow up on committees
Vice President
• Fill in when president is unable
Secretary
• Keep notes of each meeting and post on club website
• Keep track of paid memberships
Treasurer*
• Control club funds, bank accounts, etc.
• Help oversee auction fundraising
* Due to the nature of this position, nominees must be approved by the Board. Generally, we would not grant this position to someone we don't know, who has not been active in the club.
COMMITTEE CHAIRS
Programs Committee
• Secure speakers to give programs at our monthly meetings
Membership Committee
• Encourage new memberships
• Act as ambassador to new faces at meetings
Auction Committee
• Manage our primary fund-raising events, including auctions and swap meets. These happen four times per year.
Publicity Committee
• Publicize all monthly meetings and events
• Create posters
• Create online and website posts
Website Committee
• Manage the nwaas.com website
Breeder Award Program
• Manage the BAP, which is a program that tracks earned points for species bred by members
Horticultural Award Program
• Manage the HAP, which is a program that tracks earned points for plant species bred by members.
Species Maintenance Program
• Manage the SMP, which is a program to grow and maintain species that are threatened in the wild, so that they don't disappear forever.
You can also volunteer to assist on these committees, without having to lead them.
Step forward to help the club grow! Look at the list above and see if you would be interested in serving in any of the above positions. Questions? Post them here. Want to nominate yourself? Volunteer to run here, or send an email to info@nwaas.com.

There will also be a program on paludariums at this meeting, publicity to be announced soon. A paludarium is a swamp tank—part land, part water.
