Ladys and Gentlemen,

I need to know if you are coming to the picnic. I am going to be buying some food for all of us, and other people will be wanting to prepare dishes to serve to you. Please let us know, sometime this week, if you are going to attend, how many people you are bringing and what dish you are bringing to share.

Thanks,

Kevin

Mark us down for four people. The girls and I will be there, but Mark will most certainly be campaigning. I haven't decided what we will bring yet....

Our attendance looks like:

Kevin and Cris: Meat and Roasted Veggies
Kenna, Mark and crew: Undecided (maybe drinks?)
Denny and Gail : Dessert
Michael, Clarine and big Jon: Undecided

I haven't heard from several people. If you are coming please post a note here by Wednesday evening so that I can get an idea for meat among other things.

Our number has changed significantly. Looks like the girls will be in Joplin this weekend with their aunts, etc...
For now, lets say it will just be me and Mark.

The July Picnic has come and past. I had a great time, and with a few exceptions I think everyone else did as well.

We ate well and got to meet family members that are only talked about normally.

Thanks to everyone who came out and had a great time of fish fellowship with us.

The drive home got a little stressful a time or two! The lightning was close enough to make the hair on my arms stand up and the rain was coming down hard enough that it was nearly impossible to see.
Hope Jonathon's fingers are better. Poor guy!

I second The previous comments regarding the food and fellowship. We should do this more often.

It was fun for part of it. I'm sure it would have been great without the Johnathon burning himself part. One finger looks pretty puffy but he will hardly take them out of the ice water now so the prune hands (or spider webs as he calls them) make things hard to tell.
Denny, the trains are a hit. Thanks greatly. Of course he REALLY wanted me to make them work tonight but digging out some old model railroading books and showing him pictures helped him back off a bit.

I looked on the Doppler Radar when we got home. It looked as though we drove right through the worst of the storm going from Springdale to Rogers, and then once we got north and east of Rogers, it wasn't nearly as bad. I had imagined more of the tree coming down if the wind really picked up. We enjoyed the picnic, too. We'll probably have our open house in September or October, but that won't be instead of our regular meeting. Denny

Just an update: Johnathon's fingers are puffy and one has a good sized blister but he says they only hurt if he touches them, and he really wasn't even being that careful about that. In short, he's fine now and promises not to ever touch a charcoal again!
