my scooter blenny is not moving much. he's been staying in one place for about a day. today i moved some rock to get to him and when i got close to him with the net, he ran away like he was fine. now he's been in the new spot for around 8 hrs. usually he moves around the tank all day. any ideas? i tested the water and ammonia, ph, nitrites, and nitrates are perfect. i looked online, and couldnt find anything. i also know hes getting plenty of food. i have no idea what could be wrong.

Does he look lethargic?

Did you add a tank mate that he may be hiding from?

ive had 3 damsels for awhile, never seen them bother him. i have an anemone, maybe it stung him? what do you mean by lethargic?

Are his eyes cloudy? Labored breathing? Rapid breathing? Pale or discolored?

Does he eat? Swollen body? Sunk in stomach?

Recent, consistent WC's?

cant see its eyes well, hes at the back of my tank behind some large rocks. it does look like he's breathing rapidly. colors look normal. havent seen him trying to eat, and i keep my tank at 79 degrees.

i just moved some rock and got him to come to the front of the tank. didnt even really try to avoid the net. eyes look fine. i really think he's dying

I hope he's not. I wouldn't mess with him too much.

he died later that night. i tested the water again and it was fine. maybe it just stopped eating, but i had bought and put copepods in the tank a week before and i have a lot of live rock. a couple days before i had to catch my maroon clown, but he would hide behind the rock. i moved some rock around, and then eventually had to remove all the live rock from the tank. maybe i crushed him some how. thanks for all the help though

First of all I am sorry for your first fish loss .

A fish that size kept in 79 degree water will consume A LOT of copepods in order to maintain their metabolism.

I doubt your little guy starved to death, but I thought I would give you some more information. Check with some sources, but I would say that 79 is a little warm for a reef tank.
