We are planning a collecting outing on Wednesday in SW Missouri. The plan on the Arkansas end is to meet up at Dairy Queen in Bella Vista at 8:30 and be back by mid afternoon. Post here if you are interested in joining us!

Mostly we are out to have fun and see the fishies. We'll see darters, shiners, sunfish and topminnows pretty much for sure.

I'm planning to go. I'm going to need to stop somewhere in Missouri to renew my fishing license, though. Will that be a problem?

You can do that at the Wal-Mart in Jane, Mo. just across the border.

Jack,

I could meet you in Pineville, Mo.

We will be collecting around there. Park on the west side of the square in Pineville. I will be driving a white RAV 4.

Mike,

Bring your underwater camera. I can't find my battery charger for mine so it is out of commission at the moment.

That's already in the plans. :) But, darn it, I seem to have lost my spare battery, so I'm limited to one charge (which should be enough).

Have a great time. Very jealous and sorry that you are so far away. Makes for a hard day trip for old codgers.

Made it home. What a great day on the creek.

That is going to have to happen more often.

We had a blast. I got to try out my snorkle and mask for the first time. It was quite scary at first, but less so with practice. Dunking underwater with open mouth goes against my natural reflexes. I'll have to keep practicing to get totally comfortable with it. I'm a horrible swimmer, so I'll probably never be comfortable going into deep water. :)

I also got a few shots with an underwater camera. I'll post photos of critters and the group to the forum when I get a chance.

Sign me up for the next trip. :)

Mike,

My dad is the same way. He actually paid to snorkel on a trip to the ocean one time and couldn't ever manage it. I worked with him in the creek for almost an hour before he could stick his head underwater and breathe. I remember when I started, I literally had to spend the first 5 minutes underwater thinking, "breath in, breathe out" and I saw something interesting I would start holding my breathe again.

Mike, try filling the sink up and practicing sticking your head in there. (And don't forget to have Sharon handy to call paramedics in case things go wrong, and to take pics, we gotta have pics of your technique)
