New hiking/camping backpack
I just got a new hiking/camping backpack and was just wondering if anyone knew what all the straps and buckles are for? Also how one goes about packing a pack. I'll look online, but thought it might be helpful if someone I knew actually was familiar with how you do all this. Denny
If it was easy, anyone could do it!

I have slept waaaay to many times since boy scouts, sorry. If you have a boy scout manual handy I'm sure it will help.

I found quite a bit online about how and what to pack, but not a whole lot explaining what the various parts were. I'll keep trying. Denny

Some backpacks have straps for cinching the load to a smaller size to make it more maneuverable. Some straps are for lashing other stuff onto.

I think I've got most of the issues taken care of, but it's supposed to have a pouch for a water pack. I think I may know where that is, but most of the pictures I've seen seem to have a filled water bag that appears pretty round rather than flat. Maybe they are just filled more than they should be.
