Copadichromis borleyi spawn

Post by dennysfishroom »

I usually isolate female Peacocks carrying egg so I can get some fry. The females will carry for almost 4 weeks before releasing their young, and then have very little to do with them after that. This particular female has been releasing the fry and then taking them back in. I've seen this in other fish that are mouthbrooders, but it's been very unusual for my Peacocks. Denny
If it was easy, anyone could do it!

This is one reason that I got hooked on African Cichlids as a whole. I've never seen it from peacocks or haps in my tanks yet but the mbuna have done this a few times. My very first pair of Ps. red zebras from 12 years ago would release and take the fry back.
