Fossil

Post by dennysfishroom »

I've been looking at a rock with some indentations on it that I've been using to prop up my mailbox. To me it looked like maybe a dinosaur footprint. I finally decided to take a closer look at it yesterday. It appeared to have 3 forward pointing indentations, and one rear pointing indentation. Upon closer inspection, it looks like there may be 4-5 shallow indentations at the end of the deeper indentations. Now I'm thinking it's probably not a dinosaur, but maybe some sort of mammal. The footprint is probably 4-6 inches across. I'll have to show it to Mike next week to get his opinion. Assuming it is a footprint, I wonder how long it takes rock to form. Denny
If it was easy, anyone could do it!

Sounds interesting! I've got some fossil books, but I'm not sure they show footprints.
