48" LED replacement lamp

Post by sskruzr »

I found this product on Ebay for $35 and free shipping. It's a LED replacement tube for a 48" fixture.

It came yesterday so I spent about 20 minutes wiring it into a 48" strip shell I had laying around. It was very simple to wire.

I'm attaching before and after photos of the tank. It's on a 55g saltwater. I don't see a lot of difference.

The nice thing about it, is it's rated at 6000k to 6500k temp and only uses 18 watts.

you'd probably have to have a double light fixture for plants.

Now I'm having an issue with this light. Seems I have on my tank and after an hour or so, the breaker trips in the fish room. I've traced down to the light, because when I go back to the original, I'm fine. So I'm gonna a Kill-a-watt device to see exactly how much draw it has. I thought it was only 18watts. When I put it on a circuit by itself I don't have a problem. Stay tuned.

Might be your electrician!

Shocking matter really.

I know you will figure it out. Glad you are doing this test work before we build one of these lights for me.

I've resolved the issue. Normally you have one wire from your power supply to one of the bulb and the other power wire going to the other end of the bulb on the same side of the bulb with one wire connecting the remaining ends of the bulb to complete the circuit. Well with this bulb, you only need the power supply connections. Clear as mud?
