Hey guys!
My brother (who just happened to be along) caught a Blackstripe Topminnow in a creek at our family reunion. I kept it, and it's in my 10 gallon now with some Guppies. I plan to move it to the 75 gallon this weekend.
Any tips on this type of native?
Blog entry about the experience:

Thanks!

First Off there are some rules;
1. Never place a native fish with common aquacultured stocks, the incidents of disease go through the roofs.
2. Native stuff needs to be quarantined as they are most likely carrying parasites.
3. Topminnows are a control of gambusia in the wild. If you find lots of gambusia you wont find lots of topminnows and if you find lots to topminnows you wont find lots of gambusia.
4. Topminnows are easy to take care of and will eat anything. In the wild they are insect eaters capable of jumping so keep the tank covered. If you have not noticed they have a reflective scale on the top of their head. When they school and sunlight hits it, the light bounces back up and the insects think its more insects and go to investigate and the fish eat them right off the top of the water.

Great answer! I refer to it next time, as sadly, the notatus is no longer with us.

If you wish when we go collecting in the spring I can catch you some.
Where I go is loaded with them.
