DIY CO2 Reactor

Post by HiroPro »

I had mentioned in the last meeting to Kevin about the CO2 reactor I had built based on the design by Tom Barr and wanted to share the link with those interested.

http://www.barrreport.com/articles/3444-dual-venturi-diy-external-co2-reactor.html?highlight=reactor

I built one for my 40G tank and have been very happy with the results. It is very similar to the one Tom designed except mine doesn't have the venturi loop and is made from solid not clear pvc. So far I am very happy with the performance of the reactor. I like it a lot better than the glass diffusers I'm using in my other tanks.
1. It's not in the tank - not visible
2. It doesn't need cleaned.
3. The bubble are barely visible through the tank.

I'm going to make another one and I'll bring it to the October meeting when I do the presentation on planted tanks.

Ryan, I look forward to stealing, I mean, examing this design. My one tank with CO2 is a reef ready, so I think it will take quite a bit of adapting to make it work.
