Incandescent lighting

Post by sskruzr »

I have this old incandescent 10 gallon hood laying around, so I put it on a 10 in which I have a mama balzani with some youngters. Seems I needed another bulb, so while at Lowe's I came across a tubular bulb similar to the regular incandescent bulbs but a CF. Well the thing was $7 but is suppose to last like 5 years and has a 2-year warranty on it. It only uses 7 watts. I picked one up and it looks pretty good. We'll see what happens. Might be useful for those that still have some incandescent light fixtures but don't wanna throw them away.

I've heard of people using CF bulbs in older hoods. They seem to work well for smaller, nano planted tanks.
