Is this a fairly common and easy to care for killi?

Yes. There are MANY location varieties of gardneri but most are pretty undemanding other than requiring live or frozen food to do very well. They are can be spawned on mops or in peat.

Not as Easy as Degeti but easy enough.

A 10 gallon filled with mops and java moss will yield fry.

If there is not a high enough production you could try moving the pair to a 2.5 gallon.

In many killie species moving a pair to a smaller tank allows more contact between male and female.

For best results move the pair out after a week or two so the fry don't get predated on.

I did not see the part about live food. I will guarantee that they will eat flake food and other prepared foods. Nsuka are one of my favorite killifish.

Did you ever get a pair?

If not do you want me to bring you a pair?

Eat it, yes, do well on it long term? Will they spawn on a diet of flake?

Well now that you all have them make more;

This one is easier to stick in a 2.5 gallon tank and pull mops or parents and rotate them for maximum fry production.

Or you can place in a 5.5 or 10 gallon tank totally loaded with plants like java moss and let nature take its coarse.

They will produce fry.
