Anchoring Anubias, Java Moss, and Java Fern
What would be the ideal material to tie anubias, java moss, and java fern to a piece of drink wood?
Re: Anchoring Anubias, Java Moss, and Java Fern
I like to use natural, undyed cotton thread. It will eventually rot and disperse in the aquarium without causing any harm.

I'll second the cotton thread. By the time the thread dissolves, the plant will have had enough time to grow its roots in.

I've used fishing line, but prefer the idea of the cotton thread.
Has anyone used that plastic mesh for java moss? I've seen pictures on the Net of that and it looked pretty cool.

I have and did not like it.
Also my experience has been that java moss will only attach to those things I don't want it to.

I've been planning on building a moss wall using plastic mesh I bought at Hobby Lobby. Whenever I get around to setting up the low-light planted tank.

Well do it soon;
I have not had Riccia work that way, it grows where I do not want it and when I put it under mesh it does not stay.

Riccia will grow under the mesh but requires constant trimming or it will rot underneath and float away. I prefer to let it float around in a big mat. Yes, like duckweed it tends to be a pest.

Riccia is a pest I can live with.
