Tips for First-time Auction Bidders & Buyers

Post by sskruzr »

Auction Schedule
      10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m - Seller Registration Begins
11:00 a.m. - Buyer Registration and Previewing Begins
      12:00 Noon - Auction Begins

SELLERS
1. Turn in your completed Seller Registration Form at the registration desk. You should have obtained your Seller ID and filled out the form beforehand. (Send your three initials to auctions@nwaas.com to reserve your seller ID.)This registration form also autogenerates lot labels to go on your items to sell. TIP: FILL OUT YOUR FORM ON COMPUTER. IT WILL SAVE YOU _MUCH_ WORK BECAUSE YOU ONLY HAVE TO ENTER DATA ONCE. When you fill in your Seller ID, name, email, and item descriptions and quantities for each item, they will automatically populate to the up to 40 labels. That's up to 200 additional data entries that you don't have to write by hand!

2. You will be given colored dot stickers to place on your bags/items. Selling prices tend to be higher at the beginning of an auction. So you can choose which of your items go on the block early, which go up in the middle, and which go up last.
a) Place a green dot sticker on items you want to sell early in the auction.
b) Place a yellow/orange dot sticker on the items you want to sell mid-auction.
c) Place a red dot sticker on the items you want to sell late in the auction.

3. Attach your item labels (they print with your registration form) on all plastic bags and dry goods items. Be sure they are completely filled out. TIP: If you buy 1"x4" label stock, you can print the labels and easily stick them on. Alternately, you can print the labels on paper and then use tape to attach them. If you filled in your labels by hand, rather than filling them in on computer, please use packing tape to attach them. It covers your pen ink so that it doesn't run if it gets wet.

4. Whether or not you will also be buying, you will be assigned a bidder number (our auction database needs it), and offered a bidding paddle with your number to raise to make a bid. BE SURE TO RETURN THE PADDLE AT THE END!

BUYERS
1. Turn in your completed Buyer Registration form at the Registration Desk.

2. You will be assigned a bidder number, and given a bidding paddle with your number to raise to make a bid. BE SURE TO RETURN THE PADDLE AT THE END!

AUCTION
1. Once the auction starts, bids will only be taken in dollar increments. Bids will be taken on "bags" of fish, not individual fish in a bag.

2. When you win your item, you will be asked to sign a "Bidder Slip." You will receive a copy and the runner will take the original to the registration table where they will be logged to your buyer's sheet. These bidder slips will have the lot number, seller's name, winning bid amount, and description on it. Please keep these! You will need them at the end, when you pay. You will immediately receive your won item, after signing the Bidder Slip.

3. When you are ready to depart, go to the registration table to settle up. Your total will be an accumulation of your signed bidder slips on your buyer sheet. We will accept CASH or checks. We cannot accept credit or debit cards.
