HAAS June Auction

Post by dennysfishroom »

I just saw where HAas is having their June auction on June 12th, the same day we have Mike Helwig speaking at our club. Curses. Wish it was possible to get these coordinated. Denny

@#$%^! We're gonna miss another auction! It seems like I mentioned to someone at HAAS before about trying to have their special events either on the fourth week of the month (preferred) or on their regular club business meeting day, so that it wouldn't conflict with meetings of nearby clubs. I seem to recall that HAAS had an issue with the availability of the hall. However, they have moved to a new location and that may have changed. We should bring it up again.

Here are the meeting times I found:
  • OKAA - 1st Saturday (Oklahoma City chapter)
  • TOKAC - 1st Saturday
  • NWAAS - 2nd Saturday
  • OKAA - 2nd Sunday (Tulsa chapter)
  • MASI - 3rd Thursday
  • HAAS - 3rd Saturday
  • OKAA - 3rd Sunday (Stillwater chapter)
Denny, would you consider composing a letter and send it to all the nearby club presidents? Emphasize that members of other clubs, such as NWAAS, would like to attend their events, but cannot when they are scheduled on our club's general meeting day. Emphasize that the fourth week of the month is ideal for special events because it conflicts with none of the other clubs. (Though, I suppose, we would then have to be careful that clubs don't schedule their events all on the same fourth week!)

The dates were dictated by the facility availiblity. The place is booked solid and those were the only dates we could get in the months and we booked late last year to get those. I think we even had to book one of our events on a HAAS meeting saturday.

We like the place and price so we do what we have to.

Sorry to hear about the conflict, it looks like someones meeting is always going to get hosed.

If we ever changed our meeting day, that would also solve the problem. It's just so much of a hassle after getting everything out there for the second Saturday. We're not mad at HAAS, just sorry we can't all make the auctions. Denny

Since I always make the HAAS auction and Mike Hellwig is coming, I'll make the auction but WILL be back in time for our meeting. I'll just have to pick up on the great buys early.
