What to do with 20 cons?

Post by kribkid17 »

MI'M getting a tank off craigslist but it includes 20 cons. I'm going to contact worlds under water tommorrow and see if They will take some. What else do you guys recommend i do. I really do not want them to go to petsmart or petco and live in those diease ridden tanks.

You could try trading them in for credit at saltwater depot in bentonville.

Not saltwater depot. Exotic tropicals in rogers is but they are still in business last time I checked too.

I would always try trading them in for credit at a local fish store before anything else. You probably won't get a lot for them, but it is a good place for them. Good luck re-homing them.

Convicts are a great cichlid for beginners to breed, and fun, but they breed so readily that there is always a glut of them. You can see if any of the local shops will give credit for them, but be prepared to donate them instead. When I was a retailer, convicts were very slow sellers and there were always a jillion hobbyists wanting to be rid of them. So, the only way I ever took convicts in was if the hobbyist was willing to donate them. Sometimes, I wouldn't even take them then. A store has only so much room for fish that don't sell. The main thing is to get them out of your tank so you have room for something you want—and before they breed and create more convicts!

it may sound cruel but do you know anyone that keeps large aggressive fish? they can be used as feeders if small enough. i keep thinking of getting a pair for just that purpose as they breed so readily and i feed live once every month or 2 and dont like to use goldfish or rosies.

When I worked at Exotic we had the same policy as Mike - donations only for common fish. Doesn't hurt to ask, of course.

If they are very young fry, like quarter inch size, I'll take them.

You could also try to sell them at the auction Saturday. :D

Well the people sold the tank to someone else so I don't have to deal with 20 cons anymore
