Live Blackworm Order for Week of 2/22/2010

Post by mewickham »

It's that time again. We band together now and then to get a great price on live blackworms. Practically all fish love them and it's fun to offer them to our fishy friends. We need to order a total of five pounds to get a good price. If you would like to order some, details are below:

You would be responsible for picking up your worms at my house in Rogers on the day that they arrive—probably Wednesday. The price would be the same as I actually end up paying, rounded up to the nearest dollar. It should work out to $13 for one pound, or $7 for a half pound. If you want to order, go to https://paypal.com and click on the "Send Money" link. Follow the instructions to send money to my account (info@mikewickham.com). If the price ends up being less, I'll refund the difference when you pick up your worms. Or you can pay cash when you pick up the worms. (I'll take a check, but prefer cash so that I don't have to make a special trip to the bank.)

I make no guarantee beyond what the shipper offers to us.

Live blackworms are very easy to keep. I use a mini cat litter pan (10" x 14"). I place a pound of worms in it, in about an inch of water, and place the whole thing in the refrigerator. The worms should be rinsed every day at first, but as quantities dwindle, and they clean themselves out, they can be rinsed less often. No aeration or feeding is necessary. They last for weeks.

To rinse the worms, I merely stick the pan of worms under a faucet and run pure cold water to fill it up. Then I let the worms settle and pour off the dirty water. Repeat a time or two until the water is clean. Stick it back in the fridge.

Fish go nuts for these worms, so here's your chance to spoil your fish and have some fun watching them worm wrestle!

Cutoff date to order is this Friday, 02/19/2010.

The worms are here. Come and get them!

I also noticed that I made an error on the last posting. Here is the corrected:

Mike 1/2 lb. $7
Sundance 1/2 lb. $7
World Under Water 1 lb. $13
Saltwater Depot 1 lb. $13
Corey 1 lb. $13
Denny 1/2 lb. $7
Michael 1/2 lb. $7 + $5 from mini auction = $12

I'll take checks, but cash is preferred so I don't have to make a special bank run. As I recall, Corey is picking up for himself, Sundance, SD, and WUW. Michael and Denny will have to come get their own.

Don't know why I didn't mention this earlier but those of you that continually are getting worms or don't have room for a litter pan, this wouldn't work for me as my fishroom fridge isn't that big, can buy some "Worm Keepers". I got my from Aquatic Foods, http://www.aquaticfoods.com/blackwormcare.html

My we could do a group order?

I'm usually the guy who orders them, and I'm ready for more. But, unfortunately, I'm planning to be out of town on business for a couple of weeks. So I won't be able to be involved in an order until I get back.

If someone else wants to handle ordering sooner, just contact Dan at Blkworm@aol.com. He takes payment by PayPal.

There has to be a 5 pound minimum to order. WUW and SD will always take a pound each so that helps quite a bit. I usually get a pound but since I'm moving and won't have a fishroom for a while, I won't be needing any worms. You'll just have to post a meesage looking for takers.

I've kept them for up to 2 months.

You need to check out California Blackworms website for proper care, http://www.aquaticfoods.com/blackwormcare.html.

If you can find a wormkeeper(from Denny maybe), they work great.

I couldn't begin to tell you how many worms are in half a pound. They are the size of pencil leads, one inch long. So thousands, probably. To help you visualize volume, though, a pound of worms is approximately one cup.
