Fluval 304 problems

Post by stpierce »

I got a fluval 304 from a friend who had had it sitting in a shed for probably 3 or 4 years and never taken it out of the box. I bought new seals and it ran great in my bedside aquarium for about 4 months. Recently it has started making a noise that is the impeller hitting the casing that is around it. The impeller will lock up and the pump will no longer push water. I can take the pump apart and run the impeller and ceramic shaft under water and things run great for a day or two. Then it happens again (usually between 2 and 4 AM so I am sure to lose sleep). Have any of yall had any similar experience that thinks might help or want a parts fluval 304 or have a filter that would work well for a 29 gallon? I am just ready for something to happen.

You should be able to buy just the impeller and that wont cost very much.
I would bet thats all you need.
