Live Blackworms

Post by mewickham »

Dan of http://aquaticfoods.com, source of our recent blackworm order, asked if he could post in our forum about blackworms, and I gave him permission to tag onto this thread. Look forward to his post! He mentioned that, if we get to the five pound mark, he could get them to us for $80-$90. That's only $16-$18 per pound. If you've got a little room in the fridge, the worms last a long time.

I have to say that our order was great. After four days, the worms still didn't look like they needed rinsing, but I did it anyway. The fish are lovin' them!

At that price I would definitely go for a pound or more next time! The fish love them and they looked great.

I guess I'm ready for a re-order. I only want a half-pound this time, though. We need to get to a total of five pounds to get the good price. Is anyone going near any of the shops to see if they want in on it? The supplier had said that would probably get them to us at $16-$18 a pound.

I was gonna call Saltwater Depot today about angels. I'll see if Brent wants any. Sundance may split the pound price with you. He said he wanted some but I don't know how much. If Brent bows out, I'll check with Aaron.

I think we need a show of hands on who wants some.

I'm in for a pound. If need be, I can go a pound and a half.

Okay, it looks like we've hit the 5# mark, so we should get the discount rate. I show:
  • 1.0# - Corey
  • 1.0# - Denny
  • 0.5# - Mike
  • 0.5# - Kevin
  • 1.0# - Brent
  • 1.0# - Michael
Sorry that I've been dragging my feet on this. I've just been too busy to want to think about the logistics of collecting money and getting the worms to everyone. Is there a particular arrival day that is important to anyone? Once we determine that, I'll place the order and post notice of the final cost and payment/pickup instructions, similar to last time.

And it's not too late for anyone who wants some blackworms to add on. Did anyone contact Worlds Under Water or Exotic Tropicals to see if they want any?

Not a bad idea! I wonder if there is Saturday delivery? Otherwise, I'd have to set it up for Friday and I'm not set up to store five pounds of worms for a day.

I'd just as soon pick them up as soon as they arrive.

I'll give WUW a call tomorrow and see if they're interested.

Okay, our order is placed for delivery to my house this Friday, December 12th, 2009. FedEx usually delivers here around 11:00 a.m. There was a delay because our order got misdirected to the spam folder on the other end! I'll notify everyone when they arrive.

You can prepay by sending money via PayPal to info@mikewickham.com. Or pay me when you pick up. Corey, can you drop Brent's order at Saltwater Depot on your way?

We got an even better deal than I quoted before-- $13 per pound! ($7 half-pound). Here's the order:
  • 1.0# - Corey
  • 1.0# - Denny
  • 0.5# - Mike
  • 0.5# - Kevin
  • 1.0# - Brent
  • 1.0# - Michael
