Fluval Edge?

Post by Rhys »

Does anyone have one? Do you like it? What fish and/or plants do you have in it, and what kind in what number would you recommend?

I have looked at them. I am concerned about their ability to actually grow plants without augmenting the light. They are cool looking though.

I just looked this tank up. The Fluval Edge design is in the vein of clock tower tanks, coffee table tanks, and other novelty aquariums that seem like a cool idea until you have to maintain them. If an aquarium makes it hard to reach the algae for scraping away, algae scraping doesn't get done, and you end up with an aquarium that no one enjoys. The center-weighted light would also be insufficient for setting up the kind of planted aquariums that I love.

You would also need to be aware of the preferences of the fish you keep. For instance, anabantoids would not be able to survive and top dwellers would not be happy.

I can stop buying fish anytime I want. Seriously.

Many snail species have lungs and would also have a hard time with a tank with a small top opening.
