Feeding time for my Cats

Post by Josey »

I am sure you all know this but I just figured it out so I'm excited.

I have been having trouble feeding my madtoms due to the "I must eat everything available" attitude of my sunfish. I like watching the toms eat they look like dogs sniffing around for there food. I realized that they didn't look for their food but smelled it out. So I have started feeding them at night after the lights are out. They get what food they need now.

Excellent deduction and strategy! What do you feed your madtoms?

I use Hikari algae wafers which are mostly fish meal but they have extra vitamins and such. I break them into about 5 or six pieces so they can be eaten.

Do you have some sort of moon light so you can watch them eat after lights are out?

No I'm not that high tech... yet. I just squint really hard... haha. I leave the light on in the hall and I can kind of make out where the cats are by seeing where its extra dark.

Go to Home Depot and get one of the clamp on work lights (bell shaped silver casing with a clamp, switch, and a cord). Put a red colored aquarium bulb in it and clip to the side of the tank when you want to watch them. It isn't very bright, but the fish seem to ignore it and you can see them fairly well.
