More Wacky Weather

Post by mewickham »

It was a strange storm last night. In most of Rogers, you can't tell that a storm went through. In a few small pockets, like my neighborhood and at my house, debris and broken branches are everywhere. It's like the tip of some mini tornado touched down and made a big mess. I spent the whole afternoon cleaning downed branches from my yard. A half block away, the yards are pristine.

The downdraft from even a "normal" thunderstorm can easily exceed 70 mph. A normal person has trouble moving around in 75 mph winds and 70 mph winds can cause property damage.

You probably just caught some downdrafts, they are very localized in a standard thunderstorm.
