Awhile ago I tried my hand at betta breeding.

After I fed the male good and this is what i got-

After a day or two, I found this

I kinda didn't take the fry out when i was supposed to and the dad got hungry so i was left with about 50 of these guys.

Great, have fun with them. 50 would be a lot still to try to raise. Good luck. Jack

If you end up with the majority of the fifty at the end of 3 months you're doing good. The first few spawns are the hardest. Then you can work your way up to a few hundred.

If you learned anything from the experience to use the next time then you will get better at it.

So my betta is starting to look more and more like an adult. How can I tell if it's a male or female? And the color pattern must of been a recessive gene because it's a baby blue with a sloppy butterfly white outline.

Females have an ovipositor, which is a little white dot near the vent. I don't know the age at which it develops, however. but if there is no ovipositor, it could be a short-finned male.
