I've been looking at air pumps and found one used that I'm thinking about.
It appears to be this unit:

I want one that will drive sponges on about 8-10 5G-15G tanks. Will this work or does anyone have a better suggestion? It does have to be fairly quiet.
Thanks.

Re: Air Pump Question
I would have questions about it. If you go to Jehmco.com and look at their linears (http://www.jehmco.com/html/central_air_pumps.html) the closest pump in output has only half the psi but is five times as expensive. Now, given that everyone I know who has gotten a linear from Jehmco (including myself) has been happy with it, it makes me wonder what could be wrong with a similar pump that only costs $50. I'm guessing that quiet may not be a word that describes it or that the quality may not be there. I really don't know. It just makes me a bit suspicious.
However, for only 8-10 tanks there are a number of larger diaphragm pumps that would serve nicely. I used a large Rena for several years on 12 tanks and was happy with it. The water wasn't rolling but the filters worked.

Re: Air Pump Question
I'll second the recommendation for the Rena. They are very quite, and I was running 4 airstones on a 125 (18' deep?) and there was a lot of air coming out. Their customer service was pretty good, too. I was using the Rena 400. Denny
If it was easy, anyone could do it!
