HAAS auction roadtrip on the 26th

Post by sskruzr »

I will once again be trekking to KC for the HAAS Club Auction on Feb 26th. I can either accomodate 3 or 5 people. I will be leaving promptly at 7:30. Gotta get signed in and snoop before the auction starts at noon. I stay until they fold up the chairs. Should be home between 9 and 10pm. Let me know asap.

Depends on how far your folks wanna drive you. Mike's is on the east side of Rogers and my place is just off 540 but farther north. I want everyone to be there somewhere between 7:30 and 8:00.

I'll be picking Mike up at around 7 am on the 26th. Could meet there or maybe even at Sam's Club on Hudson Rd. in Rogers/Bentonville (just off 540). We've got a week to figure it out. Denny

Sounds like this is gonna be one of their bigger auctions. They've got a lot of sellers.

I'm planning on leaving promptly at 8, be there or be left. ;)

It's always a balancing act. More sellers vs. more buyers. Are the prices going to be good for the sellers or buyers? I guess that's what makes it exciting. I'll have to decide afterward which came out ahead, since I'll be trying to do a little of both. Denny

Well as usually I had a great time at the HAAS auction. Man, they had around 130 buyers. Sold a bunch of stuff and picked some great bargains, especially the turtle tank filter. I'm donating that to Mrs. Holt's class at RE Baker. Got a discus book and an old gallon and a half Anchor Hocking bowl. That'll be great for keeping newborn babies. Picked up 6 Jewel cichlids and 2 angelfish window stickers made by our own president. I got outbid on a wet/dry filter by one of own Arkansasans. (He needs to contact me if he's not using the entire unit)

At the next meeting, Mike needs to enlighten you on his pet monkey, Cocoa!

We had a great time at the HAAS auction. I sold some things-- mostly at a loss over what I had paid for them-- but I'm happy that I got some stuff out of the house and that it gave Corey a chance to make out like a bandit! :) And, for the first time, I bought nothing. There were some Heterandria formosa that I would have liked, but they were all females. I don't know if buying nothing was a good or bad thing, but it did make it a profitable trip for once-- since I'll be getting a check in the mail instead of having to pay out!

Most importantly, though, it was fun hanging out with the gang, including the new gang member, young Evan. We promised his mom that we'd keep him within a $500 spending limit and not let him get any fish tattoos. And introduced him to the gourmet food at Captain D's!
