HAAS Swap meet Oct 24th

Post by sskruzr »

I haven't been to one of these yet but since I missed MCA, I'll be going. Anybody else interested let me know.

I take it that you are driving up there and back the same day? I'd probably ride along just to get out of the house for a while.

Corey - are you going to get a table, or just shop? I might be interested, but I've been doing an awful lot of traveling lately. I might be traveled out by then. It would be fun if we do it. Denny

Just shopping.

Hoping to get there around 9 or 10, check out and gab for a couple of hours, eat lunch and hit some shops.

Probably Miles of Exotics, Brothers for sure, Petland in Olathe, maybe Blue Ridge, and probably Aquariums Etc.
May even stop in Lenexa KS to get some SMS(soil master select) at the John deere shop.

Actually, it's a 3 way tug of war. Go for the shopping, go and get a table for the swap meet, or don't go cause I'm tired of traveling. Sort of depends on whether I go to Iowa the weekend before. Denny

Too late, Denny. We've already put you down as going. You could meet up and travel with us. We don't mind making extra stops. And you forgot the fourth reason for going. You get to hang out with nerds!

Unfortunately, I'd probably have to admit to fitting into that group, too. Did I mention that I might get car sick if I don't sit in front? Denny

Here's a list of 6 shops I'm planning on trying to hit after the meet, and when I say "after the meet", when I'm done and ready to go. ;)

Blue Ridge Pets
Miles of Exotics
Brothers pets
Aquarium Wholesale
Aquarium Etc.
Petland in Olathe

This is one twist, I'll have to pick up my grandson sometime during the day, time and place to be determined.

We may even be able to hit Brothers before the meet.

What was the shop we went to visit during the MCA convention?

It isn't worth making a stop at.

The shop we visited was just off of I-71, south of the MCA. I don't recall if it was the first exit, but it was the first exit that had a bunch of eateries. As I recall, the shop had two names on the front, like someone had bought a store next to an existing one and combined the two.

Corey,

I see that HAAS has a map of local shops that might help you plan the driving for the trip:

that is Blue Ridge Pets Belton. The old store on blue ridge and holmes has been set up for years. The Belton store is still being remodeled. They bought an existing store (with 9 fish tanks in it). They are waiting for the new sign. As for the remodel, cut me some slack, I have a 50+ hour a week job, plus the remodel. I cant work all the time. LOL.

"You going to have room for a fish box? Denny" And then some. I've got 2 29's lined up to bring back. Haven't heard from Kevin if we're suppose to pick up his fish or not. Think we'll take the wife's Tahoe for riding pleasure. I'd like to be on the road by 8 if that's okay with everyone.

And please, don't let me forget to pick up the grandson!!!!!

I read this and was confused, "what is Corey talking about?" :? I sure don't need any new fish after placing that order at Aquatic Clarity. Then I remember  I was talking to someone on the KC list about getting some gymnogeophagus from them :!: .

Sooooooo, do you guys just want to give me a call on the way home from KC? I can meet you in Neosho? I will reimburse you for the fish then, if that is alright?

Hmmm, this will make species #3 of Gymnogeophagus. They say the first step in getting help for an addiction is admitting you have a problem. Good thing I don't have a problem.
