Fishland in West Plains, MO

Post by south14 »

I recently heard about then visited Fishland in West Plains, Mo. An independent store that sells freshwater fish, birds, and reptiles. Very clean. Owner is very helpful and knowledgeable. Stocked very well with supplies and tanks too. Good selection of fish. He gave me at no charge starter fish for my 100 gallon tank.

No financial interest in the store, just passing along the info.

That's over just past Mountain Home. With the shops in Springfield and now West plains, we're approaching critical mass. Denny

West Plains is about 40 or so miles north and east of Mountain Home; about 60 miles from where I live in Yellville (west of Mtn. Home on 62/412 about 20 miles). Fishland is just off the WP square; easy to find. ROAD TRIP!!

Can we find 1 or 2 more in that general direction? That would certainly warrant the trip. If anyone else runs across any other stores we don't know about, please send the information our way so we can get it posted. Denny

Yellville! I haven't been there in forever. Do they still have the ferry across Bull Shoals lake?

That was a fun little ferry. Stopped in the town with the Post Office/Grocery store/bait shop/liquor store/cafe/gas station. Did I miss any?

The free ferry is located just north of Yellville on Hwy 125 near the little spot in the road called Peel. Post Office is still there but the store has closed up as well as everything but the PO. The 'Peel Ferry' is the last state operated free ferry in Arkansas. Operates during daylight hours only. Very fun to ride! Ride across, turn around and ride back.
