Can anyone ID this fish for my friend. Is is protected or endangered? Thanks. I thought it was a rainbow darter but I am a novice in natives. He found it in MO waters.

I'm not expert, but it looks like a rainbow darter to me, too.

Rainbow, hes safe. In Missouri just get to know Nianguas and Arkansas darters and you're safe. The second are only candidates for listing right now but better to be safe.
